I began my path to becoming a physician at Lipscomb University where I earned my bachelors degree while working my way through college farming and doing other odd jobs. After graduating, my wife and I moved on to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where I spent eight years training to become the best primary care physician I could.

Through a lot of hard work, long hours, and dedication I was selected to serve as the Chief Resident of the internal medicine and pediatric residency program where my leadership skills were developed further. I ultimately achieved my goal of becoming board-certified by both the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Internal Medicine.

I then moved back to middle Tennessee and had the privilege of joining Matthew Perkins, MD and for over 18 years Rutherford County has known me to be a founding member and co-owner, helping to lead a great team at Tennessee Medicine and Pediatrics. Having so many who have trusted me and my abilities to serve and medically treat their families, it was not an easy decision for me leave my work family to embark on a new path. I felt I have been led to do my part in bringing to light a more personal version of primary care that also better suits my current goals and desires. I will however be forever grateful for the opportunity and experience I had in helping to grow and develop an organization that I am proud of and look forward to seeing it continue to thrive.

I have had the honor of serving on the medical staff at both Saint Thomas Rutherford and Stonecrest Medical centers during my entire career as a practicing physician in middle Tennessee. I fulfilled the role of Chief of Medicine at Rutherford in 2006-07. Having a passion for improving the quality of medical care, I was the co-founder of the Physician Excellence Committee at Rutherford on which I then served on for over 12 years. I am a community faculty member for Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital and an assistant professor for the University of Tennessee Family Medicine program at Rutherford. I have had the privilege of being a member of the University of Tennessee Medical school admissions committee for over 15 years and take pride in helping select high quality young men and women to ensure we have great physicians to help care for Tennesseans for years to come.

When I am not fulfilling the duties related to my chosen profession you can find me spending time with my wife and five children at our Church, working on our farm, hiking the hills and water falls of Tennessee, camping with friends and going to 4H livestock shows for sheep, pigs, goats and cattle. My favorite season is fall when I greatly enjoy spending time bow hunting for white tailed deer and watching the University of Tennessee football team.
